Can I Get My Teeth Whitened With Invisalign®?

CAN I GET MY TEETH WHITENED WITH INVISALIGN

Yes, you can whiten your teeth while wearing Invisalign! This is actually one of the major benefits of this modern treatment.

Invisalign clear aligners are removable, so you can temporarily take them out to undergo a whitening treatment, then place them back in and continue transforming your smile.

Dr. Jewett offers ZOOM! Whitening treatment for patients undergoing Invisalign treatment, or patients who have completed their braces treatment.

You have options when it comes to whitening your teeth with Invisalign at Local Orthodontics!

Can you put whitening gel in Invisalign?

This is not usually recommended. Placing whitening gel in your Invisalign aligners can damage or discolor your aligners. If you choose to whiten your teeth, you’ll receive your own custom-made whitening trays! Whitening trays have a very similar appearance to Invisalign, but they’re made to endure the whitening treatment.

Where can I get my teeth whitened?

With Dr. Jewett in Johnson city! Dr. Jewett offers ZOOM teeth whitening in-office treatment and at-home treatment.

Here’s how it works:

ZOOM uses a specially-designed hydrogen peroxide bleaching gel and a ZOOM light to activate the bleach. This helps the gel to penetrate through the enamel, instead of bleaching only the outer surfaces of the teeth.

ZOOM teeth whitening is far gentler than your traditional teeth whitening gel and requires up to three 15 minute sessions. (You can opt for a fourth session depending on your level of tooth sensitivity.) Philips ZOOM Teeth Whitening gel can whiten your teeth up to 8 shades in less than 45 minutes!

At-Home Teeth Whitening with Invisalign
With the at-home whitening kit, you’ll use a syringe from the kit and apply a drop of bleaching solution in your custom-made trays — your whitening trays, not your Invisalign trays!

Place your trays in your mouth and be sure to wipe away any gel from your gum line. You can use a Q-tip to trace your gum line and remove any overflowing gel.

The at-home kit comes with DayWhite and NiteWhite systems. With the DayWhite treatment, you can leave your whitening trays in for 30 minutes at a time, once a day for two weeks.

With the NiteWhite treatment, you can leave these in overnight, each night for two weeks. (The NiteWhite solution is specially-designed with a less concentrated formula, so it’s safe to leave in overnight.)

Once your treatment is complete, remove your whitening trays and thoroughly rinse your mouth with lukewarm water. Brush your teeth as you normally would, rinse your trays out, take a look in the mirror, and try not to blind yourself with your sparkling teeth!

In-Office Teeth Whitening with Invisalign
If you choose in-office whitening, this will be complete in one hour.

We’ll cover your gums to prevent irritation, then apply a specially-designed hydrogen peroxide bleaching gel to your teeth. We then use the ZOOM light to activate the bleaching gel. This helps the gel to penetrate through the enamel, instead of bleaching only the outer surfaces of the teeth. After 15 minutes, we’ll remove the gel and rinse your teeth, then continue with another session.

Once you’re happy with the shade of your teeth, we’ll apply a post-treatment protective gel to support your enamel and leave you with a healthy, strong smile.
