Invisalign® isn’t the only type of invisible braces!

If you’ve been looking for a form of invisible braces, you’re not alone! We see a lot of patients who prefer a more discreet treatment alternative to traditional braces. Dr. Jewett and our team at Local Orthodontics are more than happy to accommodate your preferences.

While Invisalign is a popular choice for invisible braces, we also offer InBrace®, a truly invisible form of braces. InBrace is even more discreet than Invisalign!

Here’s everything you need to know about InBrace invisible braces vs. Invisalign to help you make the best decision for your smile.

What is InBrace?

InBrace braces are a form of advanced lingual braces. “Lingual” is derived from the Latin word, “lingua”, meaning tongue. Lingual braces are bonded to the back, tongue-side surfaces of your teeth. That means they’re completely hidden when you smile!

InBrace treatment features custom-made Smartwire® loops in place of straight archwires in traditional braces. Smartwire technology uses advanced computer modeling and AI to create custom loops that move teeth in a way that’s fast, healthy and completely hidden from view.

Used in combination with GentleForce technology, Smartwire enables friction-free tooth movement, allowing the teeth to move individually of each other.

To create your custom InBrace braces, Dr. Jewett can digitally pre-program your InBrace Smartwires to create a treatment plan that moves teeth efficiently. The InBrace loops are designed to allow for optimal movement of each individual tooth.

Now let’s look at Invisalign to help you determine which treatment is best for you!

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a modern system that uses custom-made clear aligners to straighten teeth and align the bite. Invisalign technology works in a series of clear aligners, designed to guide teeth one step closer to their end position with every custom-made set..

Invisalign aligners are worn for at least 22 hours every day, and can be removed as you need. This is one of the main differentiators between Invisalign and braces. Invisalign can be removed and placed back in, and braces are non-removable during your treatment.

When it comes to appearance with clear braces versus Invisalign, the right option for you depends on your preferences!

Who can wear invisible braces?

Invisible braces can be used for people of any age! With Dr. Jewett’s level of expertise, we can treat kids, teens and adults with either Invisalign or InBrace. Common conditions treated with invisible braces include:

  • Crowded or crooked teeth
  • Gapped teeth
  • Underbites
  • Overbites
  • Open bites
  • Cross bites

InBrace Invisible Braces Vs. Invisalign

So now you know how either treatment works and which conditions can be treated, how do you choose the right one for you?  Here are a couple points to consider:

  • While Invisalign is virtually invisible and undetectable from a distance, InBrace braces are truly invisible and can only be seen by you and Dr. Jewett! You can smile confidently with either treatment without distracting from your smile.
  • Invisalign requires more of a commitment in order for you to experience the best results from treatment. You will need to invest time and energy into whatever solution works best for you, but Invisalign will require more diligence to ensure that you wear your clear aligners for at least 22 hours a day.

If you feel that you can’t commit to wearing Invisalign as much as necessary, you may need a more hands-off approach (like InBrace) to create your best smile. Once InBrace is in place, it’ll remain there until the end of your treatment!

Which is better? InBrace or Invisalign?

It all comes down to preference! There are pros and cons to both Invisalign and InBrace, and the best option should be determined on an individual basis.

We also offer traditional metal braces, clear ceramic braces and advanced LightForce 3D printed braces! If you want to find out which option is best for you, please schedule your complimentary exam with us. It costs $0 to find out which treatment is right for you.
